Cradle Mountain Walk and Summit

The next day, we woke up at and started getting ready to do the dove lake walk and the Cradle Mountain Summit walk. The track all the way to summit was about 14.5km And by the end, our legs could feel it. Mum and the two girls went back from Marion's Lookout, about a third of the way through while dad, the two Chrises, Tom, Jono, Sam, James and I all ventured to the summit. The final few kilometres up and down the mountain were really tough. We were so lucky to have great sunny weather all day and the wind wasn't even blowing. The view from the top was incredible. Jono couldn't resist doing his clichéd 'falling off the edge' stance.
On the way back we came across lots and lots of wombats. Including mothers and baby's. They were really tame and some were happy to just sit there and cuddle up with us.

We were all really impressed that Sam and James made it to the summit. It was a really tough walk/climb!
There were some places where we could just drink straight from the river and fill up our water bottles.

This was the group that went up to the summit.

  1. How beautiful! You were very lucky with the weather. I think that there has been snow in the south. Gan.
